Logistics company Weerts expands multimodal sites in Wallonia

With 55,000 m² in La Louvière, 68,000 m² in Charleroi and 215,000 m² at Liège Airport, Weerts is developing and multiplying logistics real estate projects across Wallonia, with a strong focus on multimodal infrastructure.

By developing multimodal sites in Wallonia and relying on different modes of transport—rail, inland waterways, air and road—Weerts is pursuing an approach centred on sustainability and energy efficiency.

In 2024, Weerts inaugurated its La Louvière site. An exceptional facility with a total surface area of 55,000 m², it is located on the strategic Garocentre site. The Weerts Group building stands out not only for its size, but also for its strong commitment to sustainability. A total of 7,500 solar panels have been installed, generating 7.5 megawatts per year. The building is fully equipped with LED lighting, and rainwater is collected and reused for sanitary facilities. The site has obtained the prestigious BREEAM Excellent certification, attesting to exemplary environmental practices.

We always try to locate our facilities on multimodal sites, which is clearly the case here thanks to the proximity of motorways, the canal and the railway line.

Charleroi and soon Liège

In 2025, the Charleroi site will in turn open its doors. This new distribution centre, with a total surface area of 68,276 m², enjoys direct access to the R3 ring road, ensuring rapid connections to major road networks. It is also ideally located less than one hour from Liège and Brussels airports and just thirty minutes from the Garocentre terminal, further strengthening its multimodal capabilities through access to inland waterways and rail.

The next site to be developed is at Liège Airport and is expected to be completed by 2027. The selected location is also ideally positioned for road transport along the E42 motorway towards France. Covering a total area of 370,000 m², the site will house a warehouse of more than 215,000 m².
