Telix values Wallonia’s “Radiopharmacy Valley”
Established in Wallonia since 2018, the Australian company Telix Pharmaceuticals has come to value what it describes as Wallonia’s “radiopharmacy valley”. With the opening of a radiopharmacy site in Seneffe in 2020, Telix has highlighted the region’s strong appeal.

Telix is a biopharmaceutical company specialising in targeted molecular therapies for the treatment of cancer. Radiopharmaceuticals use targeting agents to deliver precise radiation directly to cancer cells, regardless of the tumour’s location in the body. This approach, known as theranostics, helps improve treatment decisions and enables the delivery of personalised therapies to patients.
The Australian group established its presence in Wallonia in two stages. “First, Telix entered Wallonia through the acquisition of the Liège-based company ANMI in 2018. The second step came in 2020 with the opening of the Seneffe site and the installation of a radiopharmacy. At that stage, Telix was able to rely heavily on the support of AWEX,” explains Caroline Defraiteur, Chief Operating Officer at Telix Pharmaceuticals.

The Seneffe facility, known as Telix Manufacturing Solutions (TMS), is one of the largest radiopharmaceutical production sites in Europe, covering an area of 2,800 square metres. It serves as a key manufacturing hub for radioisotopes as well as for commercial and clinical products intended in particular for the Europe–Middle East–Africa (EMEA) region.

Why Wallonia?
Telix chose Wallonia because all the suppliers active in the radiopharmaceutical sector are located within a relatively small geographical area in Belgium.
The immediate proximity of high-speed rail links, airports and motorways is an additional asset, especially given the short half-life of radioisotopes.
In September 2024, Telix received the Wallonia Foreign Investment Award at the Wallonia International Business Awards.
