Talent development is a priority for Belgium’s life sciences sector, one of the most research- intensive in Europe, with the highest density of researchers and life sciences graduates among its neighbouring countries. Wallonia has taken a proactive approach to developing the next generation of life sciences talent.

The region’s dedicated skills centre, trains up to 6,000 people each year in biomanufacturing and related disciplines, with a job placement rate above 85%.

Talent Now

A public–private consortium led by BioWin, the Health cluster of Wallonia, unites major industry players alongside public authorities and training providers to tackle workforce shortages and build sustainable recruitment and skills development programmes across biomanufacturing and data science.

European Biotech Campus

Opening in 2026, will serve as a major European hub — offering state-of-the-art labs, training programmes and a business accelerator to support biotech talent and innovation, further strengthening the region’s appeal as a life sciences powerhouse.

With its five leading universities and a dense network of specialized companies, Wallonia ensures a steady pipeline of skilled professionals ready to support the sector’s continued growth.
